For the best Power Delivery (charging) performance, connect the host computer to the Thunderbolt port labeled ’90W’ located on the side of the device. This should be sufficient to charge applicable 15-inch MacBook Pro models that come with an 87W power supply, when the dock is the only thing connected to the host. When you have peripherals connected to both the dock and the host, it may not charge as expected, depending on the configuration.
With a USB host (such as an USB-C equipped MacBook, iPad, Chromebook, Android device, or PC), this device works as a USB hub. Bandwidth is reduced to USB speeds, Thunderbolt devices are not supported, and additional functionality will vary depending upon the host port’s capabilities.
- With a USB-C host, displays and power delivery support will depend upon the host port’s capabilities.
- With a USB-A host, displays and power delivery are not supported. Requires a USB-C to USB-A adapter (available separately).

Recommended performance of 2.5Gb/s Ethernet requires compatible hardware components and cabling (i.e. Cat 5e cable minimum, Cat 6 or later strongly recommended). Components that aren’t rated at 2.5Gb/s Ethernet speed will reduce the system’s Ethernet performance while connected to the Thunderbolt Go Dock (i.e. 1Gb/s).

SD cards inserted into the OWC Thunderbolt Go Dock will not be recognized by Windows Disk Management or applications after being safely removed. Thunderbolt 2/Thunderbolt compatibility requires a certified Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 (mDP) adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable (not included). This configuration provides data transfer at up to 20Gb/s but does not support notebook charging.

Works with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and USB host computers and mobile devices.
Thunderbolt 4 is capable of supporting up to two external displays from a single system host port dependent on the host system’s capability. Thunderbolt 4 external display support includes up to two 4K displays @ 60Hz, or one 8K display @ 60Hz. Display support, including available resolution and refresh rates, is dependent on host hardware and drivers.

Apples’s Pro 6K XDR Display is not supported. Apple recommends connecting the included Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2 m) to the Thunderbolt 3 port on your display and a Thunderbolt 3 port directly on your Mac, not daisy-chained through another Thunderbolt 3 device or hub.

Currently, Mac systems only support HDMI 2.1 via direct connection to the Mac’s built-in HDMI port. Mac users can get HDMI 4K @ 120Hz on supported Macs by directly connecting to a system’s HDMI port. Mac users will only experience 4K @ 60Hz through the HDMI port of the connected Thunderbolt Go Dock.
Mac Users: A software driver is required to enable Apple Super Drive, Apple USB Keyboard, and for charging iPad generations 1, 2 and 3. This driver is included in the
OWC Dock Ejector software download package. If your SuperDrive doesn’t respond when connected to an external display or USB hub, connect your SuperDrive to a USB port directly on your Mac.
Recorded sound input playback will be quiet. Adjusting the input volume in System Preferences does not improve the softness of the recording playback. Connecting the desired input directly into the computer system will improve the recorded sound input.

Connected Thunderbolt and USB connected external drive solutions may remain powered on for a short duration of up to 10 minutes when the host system is asleep/powered off or when the dock/hub is physically disconnected from a system. Connected external drive solutions may get warm as they remain powered on. The temperature remains within a normal operation range and has no short or long-term effects on the device or drive.

Begin by verifying that the power cable and brick connections are all secure. Then verify that the Thunderbolt cable is connected to the OWC Thunderbolt Go Dock. Next, verify the other end of the Thunderbolt cable is properly plugged into a system.
